Versele-Laga Oystershells 3 Coarse are an essential part of your birds diet.

Grit is needed in a chicken's diet to ensure they get enough calcium. This part of the diet is important as it helps form a strong egg shell which is made up mostly of calcium.

Chickens that lay a larger number of eggs require a higher level of calcium than others. Most feeds will not supply enough, so it is always a good idea to add more.

The grit can be scattered around so that the hens will scratch for it. Once the hens have eaten the grit, it will dissolve in the digestive system.

You can also add the grit to the feed or use a grit hopper. We also chicken treat which contains grit and other tasty treats.

You will be able to tell if your chickens require extra calcium in their diet as the eggs they lay will have poor quality shells. Even if the shells are healthy, extra grit in the diet will not harm the birds.
