A new and improved formula providing two of the most important antioxidant micronutrients for hard-working and competition horses and ponies.
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin with vital roles in immune function, reproduction and the correct functioning of nerves and muscles. Its major role is as an antioxidant.
Selenium is an important trace element with key roles in immune function and as a component of selenoproteins. Its best-known role is as an antioxidant, working in combination with Vitamin E in both independent and overlapping ways.
During exercise, energy requirements increase and the oxidation process can begin to break down the body’s own structural fats, carbohydrates and proteins — including cell walls and enzymes — producing free radicals that further damage muscle cells. Vitamin E and Selenium work together to stop the formation of these damaging free radicals, or to convert them to harmless substances, helping to protect muscle and other body cells from oxidative damage.
Important: Excessive selenium intake can rapidly become toxic. The addition of a selenium and Vitamin E supplement should be carefully considered alongside all other selenium sources in the diet. Do not exceed recommended intakes unless under professional advice.
